Mental math training for consulting and finance interview candidates. Built natively for iOS.
THE PROBLEM
Consulting and finance interviews routinely test mental math under pressure. Candidates fail otherwise-strong cases over a single arithmetic mistake. The existing prep tools either ignore mental math entirely or treat it as a generic drill app, missing the specific patterns that show up in actual interviews. Comprehensive case prep platforms cover the topic, but at subscription prices that price out many of the candidates who need them most.
THE PRODUCT
Arithmetic drills across six operations and four difficulty levels, calibrated to the patterns that show up in real cases.
300 templates covering revenue & profit, percentage change, break-even, and market sizing.
Both Quick Calc and Word Problems support optional timers and estimation mode, configurable quiz lengths, and the ability to mix categories or target specific operations. The configuration options produce over 19 million unique questions.
Easy through Expert. Harder levels scale up the size of numbers and the number of zeros to track, while keeping the underlying figures manageable enough for a user to compute in their head at interview speed.
Track aggregate accuracy across Quick Calc and Word Problems, with breakdowns by category, operation, and difficulty. The Learn section covers mental math tips, word problem formulas, and the business concepts behind the math.
Free includes daily caps on Quick Calc and Word Problem sessions. Unlimited removes the caps. The features available in each tier are otherwise identical.
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Difficulty as scale, not complexity: A candidate doesn't need to divide prime numbers in their head. They need to manage scale and zeros at speed. Difficulty in BizMath increases as numbers are scaled up into the hundreds of thousands and millions, as they appear in real cases. The arithmetic itself stays interview-realistic.
Templates over generation: Word problems are built from 300 original business scenario templates. Building the problem bank up front meant every scenario could be verified once and reused, without the cost or latency of on-demand generation. This kept V1 focused on content depth rather than generation infrastructure.
Built for adoption: V1 is priced and gated to prioritize adoption over per-user revenue. Daily caps on the free tier and a low monthly subscription keep the app accessible to candidates in active prep.
STATUS
BizMath is out now on iOS. Free with daily usage limits; subscription unlocks unlimited use at $3.99 per month, with a 3-day free trial.
WHAT'S NEXT
V2 is in planning. The focus is on industry-specific content and deeper analytics for users tracking improvement over weeks of prep. Subscribers from V1 will keep their original pricing.
